Wouldn’t you like to be contacted for more open positions?
Whether you’re actively job seeking or just willing to entertain new opportunities, more attention from hiring authorities is always welcome. Depending on how active your search is, certain methods may be more appropriate than others. For this article, we’ll take a look at some of the quick changes you can make on LinkedIn to instantly gain more profile views and messages from recruiters.
With concern to your LinkedIn Profile, there are many potential improvements you can make to get more attention. If you haven’t done so already, the first and most important thing you can do to increase traffic to your page is to upload a professional profile picture. According to LinkedIn, profiles with pictures can receive over 20 times the profile views of those without, so clearly it has a significant effect.
Another suggestion would be to create a concise statement of intention with your headline section. Use it to establish your expertise, your mission or what type of role you’re looking for. Between your picture and your headline, you create the first impression of yourself for many recruiters and hiring managers. Those 2 sections will have an impact on whether or not they choose to explore your profile further.
After this, if you’re actively seeking a new position, you can use your summary section similarly to a cover letter and the rest of the space essentially as a resume. Another function you can utilize on LinkedIn if you’re actively seeking a new position is the Open to New Opportunities Feature. This feature was released a few months ago and has made the candidate searching process much more streamlined by allowing you to alert recruiters that you’re open to new opportunities.
To use this feature, log in to your LinkedIn account and go to the ‘Jobs’ section on the top of the window. From there, the second section named ‘Jobs You May Be Interested In’ has a hyperlink in it labeled ‘Update Your Career Interests’. When you click on that, it takes you to the area where you can ‘Let Recruiters Know You’re Open.’ You can also list what kinds of positions you’re looking for, where you’re willing to work or relocate to and even a little summary. This summary can be used as a brief introduction like a miniature cover letter. Let the recruiters know quickly why you would be a valuable asset to their organization.
By utilizing these quick tips, you will significantly increase the amount of attention you receive via LinkedIn.
